MiniRoos is the name for sub-junior football below 13 years. (Please note, technically, Under 12’s and 13’s are now classed as juniors, however, they still play on a half sized pitch).
We aim to encourage children to participate and where necessary and possible we will add extra teams, especially at the youngest ages, to enable children to play, enjoy and learn the game.
Leagues and Rules
MiniRoos teams play in fixtured leagues but with no match points and no league tables. (For introductory programs for younger children under 8 and below go here.)
Both girls and boys can play in the Boys leagues.
Teams play on smaller pitches with smaller goals, slightly modified rules and reduced player numbers – all conditions proven to be a more engaging and more effective form of the game for the development of younger players.
Under 8 and under 9 teams are 7 a side on the field with up to 3 players on the bench and rolling interchange. They play on a quarter pitch for 2 x 20 minute halves.
Under 10 and under 11 teams are 9 a side on the field with up to 4 players on the bench and rolling interchange. They play on a half pitch for 2 x 25 minute halves.
We will also possibly have an Under 8, Under 9 and Under 11 girls team.
